Cooking Bacon in the oven is my new favorite way to cook bacon. It always comes out perfectly, and doesn't make a big mess.
I use Wright's thick cut bacon for baking bacon, so you'll need to adjust your cooking time if you are using thin bacon.
First wrap a sided baking sheet with foil (optional, but cleanup is easier.) I've also used parchment paper.
You can slightly overlap the bacon, because it will shrink down a bit. I put as much as possible on that sheet.
Put the bacon in the oven at 400 degrees F. For my loaded baking sheet of thick bacon it takes 35 minutes. One thing is certain, when you smell the bacon, it's time to start watching it! For thin bacon or to do less than a whole package, your cooking time will be far less.
You'll want to take the baked bacon off of the baking sheet immediately and drain in layers of paper towels.
Before I discovered how to bake bacon, I would occasionally buy those packages of pre-cooked bacon, because it was just so easy. Never again.
I cook an entire large package of bacon in the oven, drain and cool, then place in Ziploc freezer bags and put it in the fridge. A quick 10-15 seconds in the microwave and you have hot bacon anytime that tastes better than the store bought pre-cooked bacon.
