A super delicious fried cabbage recipe that you'll serve over and over again. Here's my favorite recipe for cabbage.
* 1 whole head of cabbage chopped into pieces
* 1 small onion, chopped fine
* 6 slices of bacon cut into 1 inch pieces
* Lawry's Seasoning Salt
* garlic powder
Chop whole head of cabbage into squares.
You need a very large skillet for this. I use a "chicken frying pan" with deep sides.
Cook the bacon until almost done on medium heat, don't drain the grease, but remove the bacon and set aside. Then add your chopped onion. Saute the onion until it begins to brown a bit.
Then add all of the cabbage into the bacon grease and onion mixture. The pan will be super full. Season it with an all over sprinkle of garlic powder and seasoning salt.
Cover with a lid and let it start to cook down. Check on it every couple minutes and toss to move the cabbage on bottom to the top, and top to bottom. Once it is all coated and beginning to wilt, just cook to desired level.
Put the bacon that you set aside in step one back into the pan and mix with the fried cabbage.
Some people like their cabbage a bit more crunchy, and some a bit more soft. I like it either way, and don't think you can do this wrong!
This is a fantastic recipe for cooking cabbage that I make frequently. I know you'll enjoy it too!
