Unnaturally Natural Blond Hair

by Tiffany
(Deliciously Thin)

August 7, 2010

Go ahead and ask me, "are you a natural blond?" I'll tell you yes all day long! I am! One day I'll post pictures from childhood through high school, and you'll see, I've always had blond hair. However, I hate that in my early 20s it turned into a yucky shade of dark blond/light brown - just mousy ugly. So I'm forced to color it to an unnaturally natural blond color. That being said, I don't hate it.

Yesterday I made a trip to my beloved hair dresser. I love him! He makes me feel and look like a million bucks - and the head/neck massage is a bonus...as well as the fact that he is a very good looking man. He's beautiful, but that's another story. And don't laugh at me calling a man beautiful, he's genetically blessed. I've been going to him for 10 years now. Okay, you get my point, I love to get my hair done. Here are a few reasons why:

1) To be spoiled by Ken (as noted above)

2) A night away from the little one. If you know me at all, you know that I love my little one more than anything, but I do need a night off once every six weeks for some "me" time.

3) To feel, even if only for a few hours, like there's still some part of my pre-mommy, pre-wife self inside of me hiding and waiting to emerge. The me who loves to drive fast, listen to loud rock music, and sing! The me who used to could put on a full face of makeup and change clothes while driving down the road. The me who I used to be. She still lives inside, and once every six weeks, she gets to come out and play.

Since I didn't put on makeup this time while driving, I decided to take pictures of myself en route to the hair dresser. Brilliant, I know!! All for the sake of entertaining my readers!

It's unbelievably hard to snap a good picture of yourself and maintain some sort of focus on the road. I sifted through about a million really bad pictures, before deciding to share this so-so one. Give a girl a break, I'm NOT photogenic. (Remind me to tell you someday how I bailed out of my to-be career as a newscaster, because I hated the way I looked on camera - in my last semester of undergrad school too!)

It was HOT when I arrived for my appt. A cool 102 degrees at 7:20 pm.

I left Ken at 10 pm tired and relaxed but with beautiful shiny golden hair. I failed to eat any supper this evening, and I didn't want to stop for some overpriced fast food salad, so I grabbed my trusty old sunflower seeds (see my low carb crutches) and a bottle of water and made the hour long drive back home...to the real world.

I tried to take a picture of the sunflower seeds and my spit cup while driving at night. It didn't work so well, but I was totally amused by the flash going off inside the car at night! I'm easily amused.

It still cracks me up to imagine what other drivers might have been thinking about a person alone in a car at 10 o'clock at night taking all kinds of photos.

I can't believe you take pictures while driving! Watch out Texas drivers, because Tiffany could be on the road.

#3
by: Marissa

Tiffany -
I just had to you you that I totally understand your #3 on the list! It's very difficult to be the person who wears many hats and still remain true to yourself. Keep finding ways to squeeze some time in for yourself. You're worth it.

After many years as a wife, and mother to 3, I understand this, and just wanted to let you know.
